THE FUTURE OF THE INDO-PACIFIC
The Future of the Indo-Pacific: Opportunities and Challenges
3-5 October 2022
The University of Texas at Austin
The Edward A. Clark Center for Australian and New Zealand Studies of the University of Texas at Austin and the Australian and New Zealand Studies Association of North America invite scholars to submit paper proposals to our special workshop devoted to the title subject, “The Future of the Indo-Pacific: Opportunities and Challenges”.
Many have embraced the “Indo-Pacific” as a conceptual lens for understanding geopolitical dynamics in a rapidly changing world. This workshop convenes scholars whose work engages key issues facing the region. We welcome papers from a wide array of disciplines that address topics related to opportunities and challenges facing the region, such as foreign affairs, economics, energy policy, and national security—to name only a few of the possibilities. Papers may focus on a single country or analyze bilateral, mini-lateral, or multilateral forums and engagements.
The workshop will devote special attention to ensuring that graduate student participants receive rigorous feedback on their papers and providing them with dedicated networking opportunities. Although virtual paper presentations may be proposed, preference will be given to papers that will be presented in person.
Please click here to submit your abstract of 250 words prior to August 15. Notification of the status of each abstract will be sent to all submitting presenters. Workshop papers will be due by September 18. Selected papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Indo-Pacific Affairs (JIPA), a professional journal of the Department of the Air Force and a forum for worldwide dialogue regarding the Indo-Pacific region.
